A small, fairly easily passable path runs along the famous harbor of Villefranche sur Mer on the side of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Breathtaking landscape, Mediterranean scent and calm at the rendezvous ...

The coastal path between Passable and the Lighthouse

Balade Saint Jean Cap FerratThe peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is almost entirely surrounded by a very pleasant path. We had you, in a previous article, proposed the visit of the chapel Saint-Hospice but also, the walk of the point Saint-Hospice. We present you this time to browse in virtual tours and images the section from the beach of Passable almost facing the citadel of Villefranche sur Mer until the lighthouse at the exit of the harbor, facing East.
The path begins with a few steps and overhangs the shore a few meters. Nothing very impressive but it is better not to be too sensitive to vertigo during the most abrupt passages. The soil is rarely paved and so let the rock appear, be careful with your ankles.

A succession of small points and coves

The trail winds from peak to peak starting at Pointe Moulalier, then tip of the thigh and last tip of Crau Nao where nestles a tiny beach of just ten meters wide. Some developed platforms make it easier to get into the water than going down the rocks from the trail. This section is quite pleasantly covered with vegetation with very Mediterranean scents. You will pass several times under broad pines that span the course.
Once arrived under the lighthouse, not to be confused with the semaphore that overhangs the peninsula, you will find a fountain called Coexist fountain. The association of the same name and with the objective of exchanges and interfaith dialogues, this water point offers passersby especially during the hot summer months a real moment of well being.
We recommend you to extend the walk a few tens of meters down the stairs leading to the Pointe Malalongue going east. You will be surprised to change complement of scenery to arrive in an almost lunar universe. The East wind storms here carved the landscape with a knife. Continuing you will pass the Grand Hotel du Cap and then arrive at the beaches of the marinières and the port. Rando Saint Jean Cap Ferrat

A different walk according to the seasons and the times of the day

If you are looking for freshness, for example in summer, you will need to come early in the morning. You will be in the shade almost the whole ride. If the east wind blows stormily, this section is perfectly protected except at Malalongue Point where the waves can dangerously overflow on the trail.

In winter, the walkers come from the afternoon to enjoy the warmth of the sun's rays, which dazzle the whole route. Beware of strong westerly wind (classic mistral situation), the crash of the waves on the rocks will not fail to fascinate childrens and adults, but may pose a risk. It happens then that the municipality prohibits access to this shore by strong swell.

The journey of about 5 kilometers round trip, with the possibility of parking two cars at the ends passable side and Lighthouse side for less sports, should take you around two hours, not to mention a possible picnic break or fishing , reading etc ...
In summary it is a beautiful ride to escape a few moments of urban turbulence yet very close. You are here between Nice and Monaco but with the impression of being in the middle of nature if it is not the noise of the boats, helicopters and planes witnesses of the attractiveness of the Côte d'Azur.
